Class 1 Paper Ruler Pencil Scissors Class 2 (this list will make enough for a small house, so you can double/triple as needed) 28 oz (850 g) all purpose flour 3/4 tsp cinnamon 1/4 tsp ginger 1/2 tsp nutmeg 1/4 tsp cloves 3/4 tsp salt 7 oz vegetable shortening 6 oz granulated sugar 16 oz molasses 1 Large egg bowl baking sheet(s) parchment paper Class 3 2 bowl pot or deep skillet wooden or silicone spoon sheet pan kitchen spray or a silicone mat candy thermometer 2 cups granulated white sugar 3/4 cups of water 2/3 cups light corn syrup food coloring (optional) Additional gingerbread dough Class 4 16 ounces (454 g) powdered sugar sifted 2 ounces (57 g) pasteurized egg whites 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar 1 teaspoon vanilla extract bowl 2 cups granulated white sugar 3/4 cups of water 2/3 cups light corn syrup pot or deep skillet
4 hours per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Learners will be working with the oven and hot sugar. Caution should be taken and will be emphasized in class, but adult supervision/assistance may be required. Supervision is at the parent's discretion.
