Hollie Photography Mentor

In this class, teens will photograph various food and use photography techniques to create images similar to what you'd see in a food magazine or cookbook.

Class experience

My professional background includes teaching photography in person, virtually, and through online courses. I'm a published photographer, Lensbaby Lens Ambassador and photography mentor. I also have years of direct experience working in the family photography field and have also worked on multiple commercial photoshoots, food photography and toy photography.

TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

"Everyone has a creative side that grows with practice and nurturing. "You can't use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have." - Maya Angelou

As an Outschool teacher, I will share my passion and knowledge with young photographers and artists in a supportive environment. I will gently guide, encourage exploration and teach skills to help students become proficient and confident in taking technically correct images while unlocking their creative and visual voice as artists.

I want every student to have a meaningful experience in my class and, each week, feel inspired and excited to practice their new skills.

In a safe and encouraging environment, I invite my students to learn through experimentation while embracing the creative process and discovering the joy of finding their voice as photographers. I want to help students feel comfortable experimenting, challenging themselves, and developing their talents while growing a love for photography.

I offer introductory classes and provide some creative photography classes at a more intermediate and advanced level. I also offer private classes or small groups for older teens with experience in photography looking to pursue photography as a career choice. Private lessons are customized and can focus on creating a professional portfolio or specific topics the student chooses.

Thank you for taking the time to read, and I hope to see you in one of my classes!
