Math can be fun! Plus we can have a yummy little snack! Join us on Fridays for Food Math Fridays! Each week we will use a certain food or food type as our math manipulatives to help us with math skills. I will post in the classroom what food/snack we will be using for the following week so you can be prepared with the simple supplies. I will also post any worksheets that need to be printed out to use in class. Skills we will be working on(and not limited to) are: * Counting * ...
Learners will improve their understanding each week of: * Counting * Counting backwards * "Counting on" * Writing numbers * Beginning addition/subtraction * Skip counting by 2/5/10 * Simple word problems * Simple arrays * Beginning multiplication(2/1/10/5/0-in that order) * Place value * Beginning fractions -"1/2" Learners will also sometimes follow simple directions to make a snack.
I will post in the classroom each week what will be needed for tht week's class and the next week's class. These will be printouts, simple food ingredients such as M&ms, cookies, skittles, jelly beans, etc.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
