This course is designed to introduce your learner to basic nutrition and will be based on dietary guidance for Americans. We will cover topics that include My plate, food groups, nutrients and what they are, selecting healthy food options, serving sizes, and how to read a food label. Your learner will be gain insights to the benefits of healthy foods for them and how to make those selections. This class is primarily discussion-based but will include PowerPoint, other visual aids, and activities to facilitate learning. I have a laid-back approach to teaching and encourage students to be involved and ask questions. Therefore, learners will have the ability to interact with me via discussion and interactive slides. No prior knowledge or experience is needed for this course, just a willingness to learn.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have a BS in Dietetics from Purdue University. I have acquired the credentials NDTR(Nutrition, Dietetic Technician Registered) I also have a little over 8 years working in the WIC program and have conducted numerous nutrition presentations to my local church and various Boy Scout groups.
