Description

Class Experience

Students will learn about micronutrients and macronutrients, the most up-to-date nutrition science, the prevention of diet-related diseases, healthy proteins, building a balanced meal, and the environmental benefits of eating more plant-centered meals. Students will be provided with an optional worksheet to fill out during the class. 

This presentation connects to the Health Education Content Standards for California Public Schools, including Essential Concepts (1.1.N, 1.2.N, 1.3.N, 1.4.N, 1.5.N, 1.8.N,   Analyzing Influences (2.1.N, 2.3.N, 2.5.N),  Accessing Valid Information (3.2.N), and Health Promotion (8.1.N, 8.2.N).

In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
There is no content that would be upsetting to learners or requires safety precautions. There are no tools that require an account or log in. We will share video clips with infographics to help illustrate the information students are learning about, to keep them more engaged.
