Fondant for Beginners: Simple Flowers for Cakes and Cupcakes, Ages 14-18
Class experience
Students will learn how to create several beautiful, simple flowers with fondant. This beautiful look can be achieved much easier than most people think! These can be used to decorate cakes and cupcakes with a professional look. I will guide students hands-on throughout the process. I will demonstrate, stopping along the way, for the students to follow and ask questions. Students will start with white fondant and dye it with food coloring. They will learn to work with a rolling pin and...
White fondant, any amount, starts at about $5. I usually buy at Walmart. Food coloring-I prefer the gel for icing, but any will do. Fondant roller 9in., $7.29 from Wilton.com (You can usually find all supplies at Walmart and Hobby Lobby or online). Any rolling pin or round glass will work in a pinch. Fondant flower cutters (you can choose which)-can be found for a couple of dollars at Hobby Lobby or Amazon.com Here's a huge cheap set I found on Amazon that worked great https://www.amazon.com/Zuoyou-fondant-galletas-piezas-mariposas/dp/B07K756GWN/ref=sr_1_3?crid=2L2QPQNKULD58&dchild=1&keywords=fondant+flower+cutter&qid=1596238452&sprefix=fondant+flower+%2Caps%2C369&sr=8-3 Fondant Leaf cutter (optional) Circle cutter (I usually just use the bottom of a icing tip. I like the bigger, cupcake tips best for this) Toothpicks A piece of parchment of wax paper to work on Powdered sugar (small amount is fine) A cup of water and a small paintbrush Round sprinkles for the center of a flower (optional)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
No heat or sharp tools will be used in this class. Check fondant and food coloring to ensure your child doesn't have an allergy.
