Follow the Recorder- Right Hand and Left Hand G, A, B, E, D (Ages 7-9)
If your child is familiar with playing the recorder and playing the notes G, A, and B, then they are ready to continue the fun with the notes on the right hand, E and D. We will briefly review tone production for the left hand G, A, B.

Although this class is 50 minutes, it is fast paced, no time to get bored. The students will learn the basics of how to play musical sounds using the recorder. The class is structured in imitation format. I demonstrate. The student follows or echoes. If time allows, each student will perform their song for the other students in the class. Students will need a sheet of paper and pencil to write their finger maps. After completing this class, the students will be able to sound notes on...
The students will review the following: 1. We will review how to hold the recorder properly. 2. We will review the finger for notes G, A, B. 3. Students will take turns with other students playing G, A, and B Students will learn: 4. How to create and fill in a finger map for G, A, B, D, E 5. We will practice creating a tone for D, E 5. We write a finger map a song together. 6. Be able to use their finger map to play their song.
I am a certified music teacher. I have been teaching music and recorder instrument in the public school setting for 20 years.
The students will have no homework for this class. The students will be encouraged to practice their new recorder skills at home.
Students will need: One soprano recorder instrument (Baroque) One or two 1" squares of paper Paper/pencil to take notes (if needed)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
At the end of class, the students will play G, A, B, D, E. The students can choose to play from their fingering map.
50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
The sound of the recorder can bother people who have sensitive hearing. You play the recorder in advance to see if the sound is uncomfortable.
Recorder instruments are not provided by the Outschool teacher. Here is a list of websites/stores that carry Baroque soprano recorders. 1.
