High School Photography 3: Creative Photography & Experimental Techniques is an 18-week deep dive into the artistic side of photography. In this course, learners will explore long exposure, light painting, multiple exposure, and surrealistic photography, along with the works of creative fine art photographers. They will develop advanced skills in conceptual photography, creative editing, and abstract compositions. The class encourages students to push their boundaries and experiment with new techniques, culminating in the creation of a thematic photo series and a final portfolio that showcases their personal photographic style. This course is designed for high school students who want to explore photography as an art form. Each week, students will experiment with different creative photography techniques, such as long exposure and light painting, while also studying the works of renowned fine art photographers like Man Ray, Cindy Sherman, and Gregory Crewdson. The course will emphasize building artistic compositions, visual narratives, and personal photographic style. Classes will include lectures, live demonstrations, video tutorials, and interactive critique sessions. Students will have the opportunity to participate in group discussions, present their work for feedback, and refine their personal vision. Creative editing techniques will be explored using Photoshop, where students can combine multiple exposures and work with artistic overlays. In the final weeks, students will create a photo book or digital gallery that reflects their creative journey throughout the course. This course is part of the Focus Academy series offering a complete and comprehensive photography curriculum for all grade levels, Kindergarten through 12th grade. All of these courses meet grade-level academic standards for photography and integrate other art, English, math, science, and social studies skills. Learners can begin at any grade level or take the courses in sequence. Focus for High School Photography 3: Creative techniques (long exposure, light painting, multiple exposure), fine art photography, and studying the creative works of art photographers. This course is perfect for students interested in exploring the artistic side of photography and pushing the boundaries of what they can create with their camera.
