Class Experience

1. Students will learn the basics of the kawaii art style
2. Students will receive step by step instructions on drawing a unique version of favorite characters from pop culture
3. Students will learn about giving and receiving feedback
4. Students will exercise critical thinking skills while discussing a complicated storyline and drawing connections into their art assignment
As a professional artist, I find great joy in exploring fun art styles. As a mom and teacher I have learned that kids in this age group tend to love Kawaii art across the board. Creating an illustration together with kids offers them the ability to make artistic choices and to keep their brains energized and engaged with the creating process.
Finish your art by coloring it using whatever medium you enjoy (ex. Crayons, colored pencil, paint, gel pen, digital, etc.), then post it back in our virtual classroom for me to see!
During class, they will need a pencil with eraser, a black pen for outlining, such as a Sharpie marker, and blank pieces of paper. Please bring extra paper incase you’d like to start over. You may also bring whatever you’d like to color with (crayons, colored pencil, paint, etc.)
The learner progress is assessed by teacher and peer feedback, and if they wish to have their artwork shared online, they can come and see how other people love their art
30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
This drawing class is pertaining to creepy video game characters, though they will be portrayed in a “cute” way. Students may discuss the game or some creepy topics. If your child is not into creepy topics, this is probably not the right class for them!
