Students will learn non fiction space facts with Fly Guy by listening to a story~ then draw a space shuttle with Fly Guy going along for a ride.

Blast off! Reading is so much fun! In this one time class, students will listen to a hilarious adventure story about a boy named Buzzzzz who has a pet fly named Fly Guy: Fly Guy Presents Space, by Tedd Arnold. The story will make us laugh while teaching true facts about space. Students will then follow directions to create a step by step directed drawing of a space shuttle with details. Students will then step by step draw Fly Guy inside the shuttle. When the drawing is complete, the students will have an amazing space shuttle with Fly Guy inside. If the students feel comfortable, they can share their work with their new friends. We will count down to blast off and send the rockets off to space at the end of class. Ten, nine, eight, seven.....

~Students will increase their love of reading with a fun character.
~Students will practice following directions to create a project.
~Students will use creative skills to do a directed drawing project.
~Students will use social skills to interact with other students.

Hi! Welcome to my Outschool classroom.
My name is Betty Nilssen. 💕
I have a BS in Elementary Education with a minor in Spanish from UW-Milwaukee. I am a first grade teacher, but I have also taught second, third and fourth grade, full inclusive classrooms. My passion for teaching reading while incorporating phonics, phonemic awareness, rhyming, comprehension, fluency, vocabulary, science, social studies, math, drawing and writing helps children strengthen their academic skills while they gain academic confidence and a love of learning. Teaching reading is my super power.
However, I always incorporate math, writing, drawing, social studies and science into all of my lessons, as well.
I have three adult daughters and two of them are teachers. My mom was also an educator.
There are so many books to read, words and sentences to write, math equations to solve and fiction and non fiction pictures to draw. Let's get started!
