Students will "play" Mary Had a Little Lamb or A Song for Flute at the end of class in a recital format.

Class Experience

Students will learn the basics of flute playing - breathing, note reading and fingering. Students will need to purchase a pinwheel and a pencil to use in class. They will learn facts about the flute - flute is a C instrument and plays in treble clef. Flute players need to focus on breathing, embouchure (mouth formation) and fingering at the beginning of their learning to play the flute. My teaching style includes teaching basic facts and then having students practice the concepts. I want the students to leave the class having a basic idea of how to breathe on the flute, how to form the flute embouchure and how to finger B, A and G. Students do not need to have any prior knowledge to take this class.

Learning Goals

Students will learn the beginning concepts of flute - breathing, embouchure formation, basic note reading and fingering first notes on the flute.
