US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - Kindergarten
Beginner - Advanced Level
In this ongoing course, your child will read short kindergarten level passages through rhyming. They will also learn sight words, or words often seen and commonly used in the text. They will also answer comprehension questions about each passage read. At the beginning of the class, I will introduce sight words, or words that will be seen in the passage. I will go over these words with cards, sky writing, and spelling them aloud. We will then talk about the focus word family used in the passage, and read several words in that word family. Your child will be asked to produce words in that word family, then we will read the passage together with pictures, then read it without pictures. Your child will be given a chance to read the passage independently. At the end of the session, your child will answer questions about the story and review any words they had trouble reading.
