Description
Class Experience
Flower Sewing Club: Learning Goals: * Students will learn 2 embroidery stitches each week. * Students will learn how to use the two stitches together to create an embroidered flower. * Students will describe their sewing projects and explain their ideas.
I am a certified Visual Arts teacher in Virginia (USA), and have over 20 years of art-teaching experience, from ages 4 to 18. As a practicing artist, I have work in private and corporate collections here in the US. I am beginning my third year of teaching full-time on Outschool.
No homework, although artists may want to continue their sewing projects after class.
Learners will need these sewing supplies for Flower Sewing Club: * Embroidery fabric, your choice; * 6" embroidery hoop, or size of your choice; * Large eye needles, like Tapestry or Chenille (I like a No. 22 Chenille needle, easy to thread!); * Embroidery floss; and * Scissors.
Assessment is informal in this sewing club, as the teacher makes sure young artists understand every step for each embroidery stitch.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Because sewing involves sharp needles and scissors, I suggest an adult is nearby (but off-camera of course!) while students are sewing.
No sources outside of our Outschool classroom will be used.
