Class Experience

I have a Master's degree in art education and experience with teaching K-12 art in public schools, summer camps, and individualized lessons. I'm excited to share my knowledge with students and even more excited to help facilitate their own creative interpretation of the themes we learn about in class.
In this class, I will demonstrate different techniques I've used to create petal prints, and I'll share other processes I have experimented with that elaborate on similar themes. That being said, I encourage personal exploration and experimentation. I'm sure that we'll have a variety of works to show off at the end of class!
Students should gather flower petals and/or any additional natural materials before class. Additionally, we will be using 1-3 pieces of paper (mixed-media or watercolor paper is preferred, but any size will work!). Pens, markers, and additional media may also be used to enhance your student's work of art as desired!
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
In an effort to promote creative decision-making, this class not meant to teach a specific technique to be followed step-by-step. Your child's art will be her/his/their own and a reflection of what they have decided to explore during our class time.

It should also be noted that due to the season, availability of plants in a local area, or the structure of the plants themselves, the resulting artworks will be varied. That's not only alright but encouraged :) Let's use this as an opportunity to experiment and problem-solve!
