Flipping for Reading Fluency!
In this ongoing course, learners develop a fluency in identify, spelling & reading SECOND grade sight words. With each lesson, learners will develop comprehensive reading skills to become more fluent readers using engaging lessons.

In this on-going class, learners will learn how to identify, read, write and spell 5-6 sight words per class. Each session of this course will include different words from the Dolch sight word list. Learners will practice different sight words in EACH lesson of this course. Learners will actively learn how to spell each of the focus words. Learners will practice reading the words in isolation. Learns will practice using the word in a sentence out loud with teacher support. Learners will then practice using the words in their own sentences. Learners will follow along with the teacher's modeling through the lesson. Learners will participate in various games after learning the focus words. Learners will play matching games with the words and also a "racing" game at the end of the lesson. Learners will have many opportunities to speak, read and write the focus sight words of each class. Words will change weekly and will be build upon each other from the start (words are subject to change slightly each week) Please Note: As this is an on-going class, the title of the class is subject to change, based on the time of year and the theme of the lesson. For example, during winter, students will see themes such as snowmen and reindeer. In spring, students will see themes such as flowers, and rabbits. This is just to keep the lessons interesting and engaging for students. The objectives in the lesson do not change. Learning Goals
Learners will learn new sight words with each lesson to build their reading & writing skills. The more fluent leaners are in their sight word knowledge, the more fluent and independent they are able to read.

I'm an elementary school teacher during the day, but I'm also a mama to 17 year old Reagan, 15 year old Kaylee, and 3 year old Lydia. I love reading, going to the beach, teaching, cooking & baking, and learning new things. I am so excited to be teaching on Outschool!
I joined Outschool in 2022 and I can't wait to get to know all the incredible families!
I have a degree in Elementary Education, I am also certified to teach Gifted, English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), and I have my Reading Endorsement (which means I can teach reading to all ages!). I have been working in the school system since 2003. I have taught grades 1-4 . I have provided one-on-one tutoring, run small groups, identified and worked with students that have struggled to learn how to read, along with helped students accelerate their learning. I've worked with a variety of students from all ages and backgrounds!
I am currently teaching in the public school system, but can't wait to work with all my new Outschool family!
