Class Experience

What will be taught?
Learners will explore the concept of animation by creating a flipbook.  They will understand how to make small changes to an image to create the illusion of movement when the pictures are flipped through.

What topics will you cover?
Learners will understand the process of creating flipbooks and how that is related to animation.  They will understand the concept of an optical illusion.  They will then use the concepts they learn to create their own flipbook.

The class is...

The goal of this class is for learners to gain an understanding of animation by creating a flipbook using their own ideas as inspiration.

None

-White drawing paper, multiple sheets
-Pencils for drawing
-Materials to add color (crayons, markers, colored pencils, etc.)
-If wanted, construction paper, scissors, and glue

Learning is assessed by the successful completion of a flipbook and class discussion.

1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.

No major concerns regarding content.  However, learners may possibly need to use sharp materials like scissors.
