Flight Time is a more intensive circle time tapping into skills and not just memorization. Giving young people an opportunity to grow those dendrites, strengthening their brain muscle. The curriculum that we use written by teacher Ms. Cicely Carr, M. Ed, directly prepares the students for Kindergarten. Our main focus is literacy skills including phonics, sight words, letters and sounds, and more. We will also learn math/numbers, music, movement, and storytime. You will receive worksheets to supplement the learning. Each Month is themed Mondays we introduce the new letter, number, shape, and dance move of the week Tuesdays new skills/learning, for example, learning about numbers "More or Less" or Caterpillar to Butterfly Wednesdays we do a show and tell that relates to the theme and learning Thursdays we wrap up with weekend work Mondays and Fridays rotate if there is a holiday and you will get a notification. Some of the creative courses includes Photography, Zine Making, Powerful Posters ( a class around an issue they are passionate about). Some of the literacy courses will be The Heroe's Journey, Dystopian Stories and Writing, ELAR Semester and more. The leadership development/ life skills incorporate resume writing, learning their leadership style, self-advocacy, and project-based learning.
I have been teaching for 12 years in the above areas and know that my purpose and what I am gifted at is teaching. I am certified in ELAR, Special Education, ESL, and Therapeutic Arts.
I believe in helping to mold and cultivate humans and not robots and believe that subjects involving the humanities are vital for that. Giving young folks words and self-expression allows them to learn who they are and how they fit in this world.
I am a new fur mom to a spoiled Goldendoodle named, Canary.
