Class Experience

This is the FLEX VERSION of my popular class “Marvel Comics & The Marvel Cinematic Universe for Beginners“!!!
This FLEX offering allows for students, who cannot meet via traditional live meetings, to still learn about & explore the stories of Marvel Characters!! Sessions are pre-recorded, & students are provided online pre & post quizzes to test their knowledge! Learners can dialogue with one another (AND me 😁) in the classroom blog - asking questions; sharing thoughts & ideas about the characters; discuss VERSUS Battles (Character Against Character); & even who they think will appear in MCU Phase 4! 🎞🎥

Class 1: The 9 Realms
Class 2: Magneto versus Professor X
Class 3: Omega Level Mutants
Class 4: Toad
Class 5: Kitty Pride
Class 6: The Wolverine

And MORE!!! 😃

Interaction w/ learners will be a mix of activities! 🤩🤩🤩🤩

More online websites & videos will be provided when learners start their discussions, so they can delve even deeper into character backstories! Additionally printable, coloring sheets, jumbles, & crossword puzzles will be provided for younger learners! I will even include character word cloud activities to enhance the excitement! Some weeks will feature cosplay/character dress-up fun activities, where students get to create their own costumes; post pictures; and re-create their own version of a character that we’ve discussed!

The format is still the same!! A different Marvel Comics Character will be introduced and discussed each week. Each class will have 2 slides - 1 will describe the character, his/her super/mutant powers, the character’s relatives, Marvel Groups to which he or she belongs, and the history of character. We will then talk about the movies that the character has appeared in; what made them standout in that movie; and how the movie differs from the comic book!

This is fun class meant to entertain and educate generations that may not have grown-up in the comic book era! Students will learn more not just from the instructor, but from the collective knowledge of the group!

Just MORE MARVEL MAGIC 🤩🤩🤩🤩 but on YOUR time!!! ⏰😉

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi, my name is Lana, & I am eager to take your students on a learning journey that allows them to see the application of academics in the real world!

I have traveled to many countries, and seen many things, but what makes me truly excited about living is actually seeing everything i've learned in the classroom put to work in everyday life! As a result, my classes focus on showing you real-world examples of how math & science are used everyday - and some fun stuff too!

Some of the examples of classes I teach are:

- Where in the World is Geometry?
- English Literature Themes in Hollywood Film
- Algebra Basics

What can you expect in my classes?

My classes are very interactive - with lots of engagement with me as the instructor AND with other students! I use online practice sheets to facilitate learning - so parents won't have to worry about spending money on paper & ink to print out tons of homework sheets.

Who am I?

I'm an engineer with over 25 years experience in engineering technology from many different industries. I have held positions with companies like NASA/Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX & Harley-Davidson - the most iconic motorcycle on the globe. I have a special love for film - especially historical drama & literary film! Equally as much, I love dogs & comic books!

I want my students to leave my classes knowing that its okay to be smart in school topics, but to have a well-rounded personality that includes fun stuff too! And to incite a sense of adventure!

****Refunds, Transfers, Classroom Management and No-Shows Policy****
My classes operate under the 'Limited' refund policy. Learners can withdraw with a refund up to one week before class starts, or within 24 hours of purchase. Refunds are not given for withdraws outside this window, but transfers may be requested before class begins.

According to Outschool Policy: If you miss a class, you are not entitled to an automatic refund. Learners, however, may be transferred to the first available section at the teacher's discretion, and a recording may be available.

Class No Shows:
If your learner has not joined the class meeting 10 minutes after the start time, the meeting may be canceled, at the teacher's discretion. Class no shows are considered a missed session, and you are not entitled a refund. If possible, I will record a class video and make it available in our classroom.

Late to Class:

If your learner joins a class late, please note I will do my best to bring the late student up to speed. However, I will not re-teach missed portions of the class. Your student will have access to our classroom video for review and to complete any missed work. Feel free to contact me with any questions as your learner completes their missed work.

Classroom Management:

Classroom behavior expectations are addressed at the beginning of each session. Mics are muted until there is a a question, or time for discussion. Students are encouraged to participate in their comfort levels.
