Class Experience
This 10 week Flex Schedule course will feature a new project every week that helps the child build a connection to nature while exercising their creativity. There are no live meetings scheduled. However, we will discuss simply characteristics of various natural materials- such as form, color, texture and use a variety of art materials through video and our comments we make to another in our classroom forum. Your child will create projects such as : Nature Medallions, Nature Weaves, Dream Catchers and many more fun and interesting projects that will get them excited about exploring nature and complete this flex course! Come & Join...make a new friend, let's learn together what natural materials are available in your area and have fun while collaborating with nature! Below are the expectations for this course and a few materials you might need. I provide a full weekly project list with suggested materials upon registration. Expectations for this Flex Class Each week, I will post a recorded class session for everyone enrolled in this flex course to view when convenient. I ask that your child checks in with me via the classroom section to upload pictures of their work and to ask any questions. I also would like each learner to view their classmates work when posted and make a comment about it. Let's be positive and supporting here! :) Some ideas to make comments about when posting to me about your work, could be: Introducing yourself and where you are from! And... tell us (1) What you liked about this weeks project, (2) What you did not really like about it, (3) What might you want to explore again if you made this project again-- what would you add to it ? (4) Where did you find your materials? (5) What natural materials did you find and use? Let's compare and contrast together as a class on what natural materials are in our environments! Maybe no one in this class has ever heard of or seen a certain plant or flower or tree that you have, and that you worked with in your project!! (6) Take a picture of it!! :) Let us know the name of it and why you like it or why it's special to you! And, if you don't know the name of the material you used... that's OK...Please, still post a picture of it, and maybe someone else in this class can identify it!! I will make a pictorial graph towards the end of this course and we can see together what we all worked with and how many of us used the same materials!! :) Please upload your work and comments for each week's project by using the title of the lesson, so everyone knows which project your artwork is pertaining to- for example: Project 1: Nature Medallion; Project 2: Nature Sphere etc. Example of Weekly Work Projects & Materials Project 1: Nature Medallion Materials: Air Dry Clay (handful amount), paper-plate, white glue, natural materials (little pieces of flowers, or moss, or rocks, leaves, ribbon) Project: Nature Weave Materials: Twigs, Botanical items (flowers, herbs, ribbons, palm tree fiber, bark) *** Materials can be sourced from local art & craft stores, grocery stores, and from outdoor areas near you-- such as back yards or walks around your neighborhood. I provide a suggested material list upon registration
