In this self paced class, we'll participate in an archaeological investigation of the ancient civilizations of Çatalhöyük, Stonehenge, Skara Brae and Troy and learn the history of these locations.

Lesson 1
Basics of the Archaeological Process
We'll learn the basics of the archaeological process and what defines an "age" (Stone Age, Neolithic, etc). We will also get a wide angle view geographical location of where sites are located that will be covered in this class.

Çatalhöyük in Turkey 7200BC - 5800BC

I am a lover of history, the more obscure the better. This class explores ancient ruins that are not widely known about. Little known locations fascinate me and I am excited to share my passion for history with those that engage with me.
Homework Offered
As with all of my classes, homework is option and up to the student's adults to decide if they are required to complete the projects. I do not provide grades for my classes by default, so if you would like a grade, please let me know.

A pdf file will be provided as a kind of worksheet for one week's class. Students will need to a computer, internet access and materials for projects as needed. Project materials will be based on projects chosen by students. They will have the freedom to choose what materials they would like to use. Also, they will need to be able to run flash in order to use some of the website links provided. Though, these links are not materials that are required.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
We will be looking at pictures of ancient ruins & civilizations. These civilizations left statues and artwork behind and some show bodies in the naked form. We will also be looking at a few pictures of skeletal remains. Finally, links will be provided to other sites that may have additional photos of items of a sensitive nature.
