Description

Class Experience

Students will learn about the effects of excessive screen time, strategies to manage their screen time, and how to create a healthy balance between technology and other activities.
With a degree in Computer Science and 20 years of teaching experience, the teacher has a deep understanding of the effects of technology on children and the best ways to manage screen time.
Students will complete weekly activities and reflections to help them apply what they have learned. Homework will take approximately 30-60 minutes per week.
Progress will be assessed through feedback on homework assignments and class participation. There will be no formal grades.
No live meetings, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Please note, this class will highlight to students how much of their lives they are wasting on screens and the harmful effects this has on their minds, bodies and relationships. Some students can find the realization that they have a screen addiction problem profoundly distressing.

After this class, please ensure that you speak to your child about what we have covered and be prepared to offer the support they will need to overcome their addiction. You may wish to approach local counselling services to find out what professional support is available to you.

Please be aware that addiction is a problem, whether it is screen time, video games, drugs, alcohol or any other addictive behaviour. If your child identifies that they have a problem during this class please seek professional help immediately.
