Class Experience

This class is taught in English.
Conventions of Standard English According to a Grade 3, U.S. Curriculum:
Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English capitalization, punctuation, and spelling when writing.
Use knowledge of language and its conventions when writing, speaking, reading, or listening.
Determine or clarify the meaning of unknown and multiple-meaning word and phrases based on grade 3 reading and content, choosing flexibly from a range of strategies.
Demonstrate understanding of figurative language, word relationships and nuances in word meanings.
Acquire and use accurately grade-appropriate conversational, general academic, and domain-specific words and phrases, including those that signal spatial and temporal relationships (e.g., After dinner that night we went looking for them).
All assignments, quizzes, and participation for each week will be due by the Sunday at midnight (EST) after assigned. Learners may complete them at their own pace and time during the week. 
*The recommended schedule is to complete Day 1 on Monday, Day 2 on Wednesday, and Day 3 on Friday.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Student progress reporting will be based on participation in class discussion and group activities, participation in each lesson activity on Nearpod, and percents on Nearpod 'Time to Climb' quizzes, and the FINAL 'Time to Climb' vocabulary quiz grade; reported as: 
E = Excellent progress, S = Satisfactory progress, N = Needs extra practice
Progress reports will be posted on Tuesday or Thursday of the following week.
No live meetings, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
Although students will be learning using Kahoot.com and Nearpod.com, only codes or links are necessary to enter each activity. Students are not required, and will not need to, have an account on either website/app.
If working on a separate device than Zoom, students will need the app for each platform.
If working from a PC, students will click a link from their classroom page of Outschool.com.
