Class experience
The course is an introduction to nutrition guidelines and topics. The course will introduce what macronutrients (carbohydrates, proteins, water, fats) and micronutrients (vitamins and minerals) are and how they work in the body to both promote health or hinder health. Each week will go more in detail about nutrients, food processing practices, food labeling practices, portion sizes, guidelines, and more! I have a PhD in Public Health and I am a Registered Dietitian. I have been teaching nutrition to college students and vulnerable populations for 7 years.
Homework Offered
Assignments will be given to test student knowledge and understanding of concepts introduced. Assignments are not intended to be overly time consuming, but rather a fun way to test their learning. Assignments are listed in the course description area. Assignments include quizzes, discussions, and mini projects.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
