FLEX Teen Cooking Class: Teens Cooking Around the World (13-17)

In this 11 week FLEX class, each week teens will cook a dish from a different country while learning some facts about each. Your teen chef will make dishes from: Bolivia, Italy, China, Canada, Zambia, Brazil, Australia, Greece and more!

Class Experience

* Learners will be able to prep ingredients, cook a newly taught dish and plate their dish for overall presentation to their friends/family all through the assistance of a step-by-step video of the teacher demonstrating all the proper techniques. 
*Learners will gain a greater appreciation for the process to make each dish.
*Learners will have the opportunities to discuss about the country we are discussing through our class chat.
*Learners will be able to demonstrate their mastery of each country and it’s recipe through Nearpod activities.
*Learners will understand the responsibilities that come with cooking, including cleaning their kitchen tools and overall kitchen as they prepare their dish.
1- Post a photo weekly
2- Comment on other teen chef’s photos 
3- Post a reflection weekly 

In Further Detail: 
Learners will post in the classroom chat each week a photo or photos of the dish they made. Each learner will comment on the other photos posted by other learners too (uplifting and positive comments will further encourage all teen chefs to work their hardest). Even better if you have a photo or a video of your family/friends enjoying the featured country's dish, please share that as well! Also through the class chat, learners will post reflections of their dish.
The ingredient list will be sent to leaners for the next class as they register. All ingredients can be found at any local grocery store. Remember to take inventory of what you already have at hoje before making additional purchases. 
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
  • Nearpod
Learners will be assessed informally on their experiences and knowledge of the lesson through their postings weekly and their Nearpod responses.
No live meetings, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Kitchen cutting knives will be needed to prep certain ingredients and oven, stove, microwave and other appliances may be used in different recipes.
We will be using Nearpod.
