This is a FLEX class. That means there are NO LIVE MEETINGS for this Spanish crash course. Bienvenidos! In this 6-week video course, your child will learn some of the fundamentals of the Spanish language. Throughout the course, they'll learn over 25 different Spanish words and phrases to use in everyday conversation. We'll focus on Mexican Spanish, since that is what I specialize in. Each week, the featured video will include a custom slide presentation on Nearpod. Some of the interactive...
Students will learn over 25 different words and phrases to discuss vacations, breakfast, lunch and dinner in Spanish, along with several key verbs. They'll also learn how to correctly form AR verbs in the present tense to match different subjects.
I hold a Bachelor's Degree in the Principles and Methods of Language Education. I have spoken Spanish for nearly two decades. I have been a language teacher since 2014. I lived in Mexico for 6 years. I hold a TEFL certificate
Homework is optional and may be assigned for each class. I will include a post in the virtual classroom each week detailing the homework instructions. Homework may include: -asking your child to submit a video of themselves pronouncing the new vocabulary from the lesson -custom-designed worksheets or word search activities
Students will not need anything specific for this class. They will just need to access Nearpod via the app, or via the website directly. I recommend a pencil and a notebook to write down new vocabulary words.
Assessment is informal for this class. I do not give letter grades, but I do write feedback for each student as needed. For FLEX classes, I also include video feedback for students that actively participate in the course.
No live meetings, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Please note that this class will focus on the use of Mexican Spanish, since that is the Spanish that I specialize in. This does not mean that it is the only correct way to speak Spanish. Spanish is spoken in many countries, and there are many different correct ways to speak this diverse language. For NEARPOD, you will receive a link to the NEARPOD website in a post in the virtual classroom each Sunday. You can click this link directly to access class materials. You could also use the NEARPOD app and use the 5-digit class code, which will be provided in the classroom post as well. For KAHOOT, you will receive a link and Game PIN in a post in the virtual classroom to access the Kahoot website. Kahoot is a website that has virtual quiz games. I've designed a quiz on this website to help your child review the knowledge learned in each class. For YOUTUBE, you will receive a link in a post in the virtual classroom each Sunday. Please note that the YouTube videos you will receive are private and exclusive to my Outschool students. They are uploaded to YouTube only for your convenience, and are not available to the general public.
