Description
Class Experience
This course is for the second semester of Spanish 1 FLEX and has a pre-requisite of successful completion of my first semester Spanish 1 or teacher approval. Spanish 1 Flex in a Nut Shell: This course is part 2 of my Flexible Schedule Spanish 1 Course. The successful completion of this paired with semester 1 will complete a full year of Spanish 1 at the high school level preparing a student to move into Spanish 2 at the end of the school year. Students will grow in their ability to understand, speak and read in Spanish. This course is meant to build confidence and ability in the use of a second language.
I am an experienced language teacher with over 15 years of experience teaching Spanish as well as 5 years experience teaching English as a second language in the virtual classroom. I have been teaching my own personal Spanish curriculum on Outschool. Prior to virtual teaching I taught high school and middle school Spanish in the classroom. I studied the Spanish language in the U.S.A at Temple University and in Spain at Universidad Complutense in Madrid. I have spent multiple summers in Spanish-speaking countries teaching English and continuing to study Spanish. I love the language and I always enjoy helping students love it too!
As a FLEX course the student will have work to complete each week. Some of this is done along with the videos and others are to be completed after the video. The homework will be posted on the message board in this class and any worksheets will be posted in pdf form.
Schaum's Outline Spanish Grammar
Learners are assessed through a variety of ways in this Flexible Course. They will be assessed through engagement on the message boards, written assignments that pair with each week's grammar focus, interactive activities through Nearpod as well as vocabulary quizzes and unit tests.
No live meetings, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
The total number of hours suggested for this course including the time watching the video-lessons is 2-4 hours. Students will have weekly homework but it should not take more than an hour or two a week and often less depending on the content covered that week. This is an academic course and as such does require a high level of commitment. I am always available to help a student where they need and will always try to flexible or make adjustments for students if needed.
