What's included

Homework
1 hour per week. The homework for this intermediate voice lesson class will consist of assignments that allow learners to apply and practice the techniques and skills learned in the lessons. Homework assignments may include: Vocal Exercises: Learners may be assigned specific vocal exercises to practice, focusing on breath control, vocal placement, resonance, vocal fry, vocal runs, melisma, and other advanced vocal techniques. Song Interpretation: Learners may be assigned songs from different vocal styles, such as jazz, pop, rock, classical, etc., to interpret and practice adapting their vocal technique and expression to different genres. Performance Practice: Learners may be asked to perform a song of their choice or a designated song, incorporating the performance skills and stage presence techniques learned in class, and record themselves for self-assessment or feedback from the instructor. Recording Assignments: Learners may be given recording assignments to practice recording their vocals using recording equipment and software, optimizing their vocal performance in a studio setting, and submitting their recorded tracks for feedback or evaluation. Discussion Forums: Learners may participate in online discussion forums or group discussions to share their progress, ask questions, and engage with fellow learners in discussing different vocal techniques, performance skills, and recording techniques. The homework assignments will be designed to be light and manageable, allowing learners to practice and reinforce the learned skills at their own pace, while providing opportunities for self-assessment and feedback from the instructor to aid in their skill development.

Class Experience

In this intermediate voice lesson class, learners will be taught advanced vocal techniques, explore different vocal styles, develop performance skills and stage presence, and learn about recording and studio techniques.

Topics covered will include breath control, vocal placement, resonance, vocal fry, vocal runs, melisma, adapting vocal technique to different styles, engaging with the audience, microphone technique, stage movement, recording equipment, recording software, optimizing vocal performance in a studio setting, working with recording professionals, and more.

The class will be structured as a pre-recorded course with weekly lessons that learners can access at their own pace. Each week's lessons will include demonstrations, exercises, examples, and practical tips to help learners develop their vocal skills and performance abilities.

The teaching style will be friendly, supportive, and engaging, with an emphasis on practical application of vocal techniques and performance skills. Learners will have opportunities to interact with the instructor through discussion forums or Q&A sessions, as well as interact with fellow learners through online forums or discussion groups.

There is no specific required experience or knowledge for learners, but it is recommended that learners have basic knowledge of solfege and vocal techniques, as this is an intermediate level class building upon those foundations. However, the class will provide a review of basic vocal techniques at the beginning to ensure all learners are on the same page.

Week 1: Expanding Solfege and Vocal Techniques

Review of solfege syllables and exercises to strengthen solfege skills.
Introduction to new solfege syllables and practice in different musical contexts.
Vocal warm-ups and exercises to further develop head voice and chest voice.
Tips and techniques for proper breath control, vocal resonance, and vocal health.
Homework: Practice solfege exercises and vocal warm-ups at home.
Week 2: Exploring Vocal Range and Expressiveness

Understanding vocal range and vocal registers.
Expanding vocal range through exercises and vocal exercises in different octaves.
Introduction to vocal dynamics, expression, and emotion in singing.
Techniques for conveying emotions and storytelling through singing.
Homework: Practice vocal range exercises and explore expressive singing at home.
Week 3: Diving into Song Interpretation and Performance

Analyzing song lyrics and meanings to connect with the emotional content of songs.
Techniques for interpreting and conveying the intended emotions of a song.
Practice in performing songs with proper vocal technique, expression, and stage presence.
Tips for connecting with the audience and building confidence in performing.
Homework: Select and practice a song for performance in the final week.
Week 4: Showcasing Singing Skills - Final Performance

Rehearsing and refining the selected song for performance.
Dress rehearsal and feedback session for final performance.
Final performance of the selected song with emphasis on proper vocal technique, expression, and stage presence.
Celebration of progress and achievements throughout the course.
Homework: Continue practicing and applying learned techniques in future singing endeavors.
Note: Each class will include interactive discussions, demonstrations, and individual feedback to cater to the needs and progress of each learner. Learners are encouraged to practice regularly outside of class to fully benefit from the curriculum and improve their singing skills.

Application and Practice: Learners will have opportunities to practice and apply the learned techniques through exercises, demonstrations, and recording assignments, and receive feedback for improvement.

Confidence and Self-expression: Learners will build confidence in their vocal abilities, express their own unique style, and develop their own artistic interpretation of songs.

Collaboration and Interaction: Learners will have opportunities to interact with the instructor and fellow learners through discussion forums or Q&A sessions, fostering a collaborative and supportive learning community.

By the end of the class, learners will have a deeper understanding of advanced vocal techniques, be able to adapt their vocal style to different genres, develop performance skills, understand recording and studio techniques, and gain confidence in their own vocal abilities.
