Beginner - Intermediate Level
This 8 week class is designed for teenagers who are looking to make extra money and gain valuable skills. Over the course of 8 weeks, students will learn about various side hustle opportunities and will be provided with the tools and knowledge needed to start their own businesses. GOALS: -Introduce students to different types of side hustles and help them identify which one(s) may be a good fit for them -Teach students how to develop a business plan and create a budget, including market research and financial forecasting -Provide students with information about marketing, branding, and advertising their business -Help students understand the implications of running a business -Develop students' problem-solving, critical thinking, and leadership skills ▬▬▬▬▬▬ Week 1 - 8 Topics will include: ▬▬▬▬▬▬ What business is and how it works Funding your business Different kinds of businesses Learning, if you like your job you never work a day in your life ;) Over 77 Side Hustlers / Business ideas for teens and how to earn money now! How to write a basic business plan How to schedule your time to be successful How to manage a budget understanding profit and loss How to market your business and identify your target market Quality control and how to keep your customers happy The difference between needing and wanting The flexible schedule (Flex Class) allows your learners to watch the pre-recorded videos and do them at a time that is FUN for them! You can also spend extra time on the topics your child is most interested in. Since this is a flex class with no live meetings, students can log in at a convenient time to complete the week's lesson. We will be going through each week as a group and I will post the lesson weekly (depending on which day you started). The videos will contain the information required to give students a good understanding of each topic, and each one will include homework for the students to undertake during the week. Homework assignments will include writing a list of topics, interests, and areas of expertise in which the students might be interested in developing a business. There will also be research assignments into how to choose a business name, the importance of color when selecting a logo, the difference between product and service companies, and the different forms of business funding available. After watching each video and completing the homework assignments, students will be provided with feedback and the specific next steps to make their business vision a reality, including how to write a business plan. Time frame for the Week: Mondays - The teacher will post the information needed for the week. Tuesdays-Wednesday - The teacher can answer any questions pertaining to the topic of the week. The students will need to complete any homework assignments and answer any questions in the class. Thursday - Students need to have all tasks completed and uploaded in the classroom. Friday - The teacher will provide feedback to the class and individual students, students will also be able to engage in peer-to-peer review and be able to discuss how they went about completing the tasks. The class aims to equip students with a thorough understanding of the financial aspect of owning and running a business, as well as help them develop the skills needed to turn their idea into a profitable venture. Additionally, the class aims to enhance the student's problem-solving, critical thinking and leadership abilities, encourage creativity and foster an entrepreneurial mindset.
