Advanced Level
This is an ACCELERATED high school and college level course designed to introduce the main concepts of Calculus. Students will self-pace within each week and there will be no live lessons. Students should have prior knowledge of Algebra, Geometry, and Trigonometry before enrolling in this course. Schedule: Week 1: The Limit of a Function Week 2: Limits and Continuity Week 3: Introduction to Differentiation Week 4: Advanced Differentiation Rules Week 5: Applications of Derivatives Week 6: The Anti Derivative Week 7: Techniques of Integration Week 8: Applications of Integration Class format: 1. At the beginning of each module students will take an assessment prior knowledge and be assigned prerequisite modules to build skills necessary for learning. 2. Students will explore the concepts of Calculus through interactive Desmos Activities following a research driven approach to teaching mathematics of "experience first-formalize later". 3. Students will watch instructional videos with embedded knowledge checks to take notes and formalize learning. 4. Finally, students will complete tiered practice assessments and receive individualized feedback for revision and enrichment. How will students and teachers interact with each other? As this is a flex class students will have a weekly assignment at the end of each week and students will post their "proudest problem" which represents either a challenge they overcame, a concept they understood well, or something new they learned. Students will be required to reply to one other student post if another post is completed. Students will be able to ask questions in the classroom and will be provided with feedback on their practice. For students who need extra support, I offer 1-1 tutoring at an additional cost.
