Description
Class Experience
In this fun, engaging, and thought-provoking class taking place over 6 weeks, students will read the award-winning book "Stargirl" by Jerry Spinelli that was adapted into a popular movie. They will be posting in the classroom about each week's reading assignment based on prompts provided by the teacher, commenting on the posts of others, and completing weekly acts of kindness inspired by the story. To have the students develop their critical thinking & written communication skills and know a little bit more about kindness, too.
I've been a certified teacher for 30+ years, including being the founder of a progressive middle & high school in Seattle (in 1994). I have a warm way of engaging with students who typically feel cared for & respected while attending my classes. As one student once said, "You were teaching us to be ourselves!"
