Note: This class is a flex class and there are no live meetings During this flex class learners will practice addition, subtraction, multiplication and division by creating colorful mosaics and placing them in a journal once we are done. This class will cover simple and extended math problems as it will ensure that they don’t forget basic solving strategies. It is important for students to practice math and what better way than by practicing coloring while solving problems. This class will not meet live but there will be lots of interaction as students will be sharing their mosaics with the rest of the class and discussing what problems they found difficult. I will record a prerecorded lesson with them and then I will ask students to do one themselves. Students might not know all the answers therefore we will also be practicing strategies with small objects to find the answer to each problem as a class and also students will receive a multiplication paper with answers on them so students can take a quick peek when struggling. There will be plenty of interaction as students will post live videos of them showing their completed work or pictures if they feel more comfortable. I will give each student feedback on their work and students will also be able to give each other feedback. In addition to the mosaics, students will receive links to Blooket to reinforce their learning. The goal of this class is for students to become experts in math and be able to respond to math problems quickly. Students will work on one operation every week.
