In this self-paced class, learners will complete four Pokémon art projects! We'll use colored pencils to draw Squirtle, watercolors to paint Charmander, markers to draw Ash Ketchum, and origami to create a standing Pikachu card holder!

Beginner - Intermediate Level

 Week 1
Lesson 1
Squirtle
We will draw Squirtle! I will use colored pencils to shade.
Lesson 2
Choose a Favorite
Learners will pick their favorite Pokemon object, such as figurines, cards, or game screen shots.
 Week 2
Lesson 3
Charmander
We will draw Charmander! I will use watercolors and demonstrate how to create the shadows on Charmander.
Lesson 4
Scavenger Hunt!
will post several categories that are related to Pokemon. Learners can find Pokemon or non-Pokemon items that fit the scavenger hunt description.
 Week 3
Lesson 5
Ash Ketchum
We will draw Ash Ketchum! I will use markers to color in Ash with bright, bold colors.
Lesson 6
This or That?!
I will post questions that will help learners to think about their Pokemon trainer preferences.
 Week 4
Lesson 7
Origami Pikachu
We will create an origami Pikachu. Pikachu can stand and even hold a Pokemon card.
Lesson 8
Guess Who?
I will post clues that describe a Pokemon. See how quickly you can guess the Pokemon!
  • Learners will create three drawing projects and one origami project.
  • Learners will experience using different mediums for their art.
I always enjoyed art as a child and continued to take art classes at the college level and as an adult.  I enjoy using art to teach and engage online learners. I have taught over 1,300 learners on Outschool over the past three years.

Details: There are four recordings demonstrating each project. They are about 30 minutes in length. There are four short optional activities that are designed to take about 5-20 mintues each.

Our weekly supply lists are below. You are always welcome to use a different medium than I do (like use crayons instead of colored pencils, markers instead of paint, etc.) W̲e̲e̲k̲ 1̲ Paper Pencil and Eraser Colored pencils Black marker for outlining (optional) W̲e̲e̲k̲ 2̲ Pencil and Eraser Watercolors (lid of watercolors or small plate to mix colors) Water cup Paper Towels Paper (Watercolor paper--optional) Black marker for outlining (optional) W̲e̲e̲k̲ 3̲ Paper Pencil and Eraser Markers W̲e̲e̲k̲ 4̲ Construction or colored paper (two pieces of yellow recommended, but you can use white paper and color it yellow at the end) Scissors (if using rectangle paper) Clear tape Black and red markers White paper and hole punch (both optional)
Week 4 may involve cutting with scissors. Please monitor your learner's safety during this project.
