In this 16-week course, the student will learn essential navigation skills to confidently navigate different environments. The class will be divided into the following weeks and topics: Week 1: Introduction to navigation and maps Week 2: Using a compass Week 3: Identifying natural landmarks Week 4: Identifying man-made landmarks Week 5: Planning a route Week 6: Following a route Week 7: Basic survival skills in the outdoors Week 8: Navigating in urban environments Week 9: Navigating in rural environments Week 10: Navigating in mountainous environments Week 11: Navigating in desert environments Week 12: Navigating on water Week 13: Introduction to GPS and digital navigation Week 14: Using GPS and digital navigation Week 15: Navigational problem-solving Week 16: Final project and assessment By the end of the course, learners will have the tools they need to navigate like a pro and never get lost, with increased confidence in their ability to navigate different environments. Are you worried about getting lost in unfamiliar places? Do you want to be able to navigate like a pro? Then we have the perfect class for you! Our Basic Navigation Life Skills class will teach students how to navigate in any situation, so they never have to worry about getting lost again. Our expert teacher, Johnathan, has traveled the world and has the experience to help your student learn how to navigate like a pro. Over the course of 16 weeks, students will learn the essential skills they need to navigate in different environments, such as urban areas, rural areas, and the great outdoors. They'll learn how to read maps, use GPS systems, and develop an understanding of cardinal directions. The flexible schedule (Recorded Flex Class) allows your learners to watch the pre-recorded videos and do them at a time that is FUN for them! You can also spend extra time on the topics your child is most interested in. Since this is a flex class with no live meetings, students can log in at a convenient time to complete the week's lesson. We will be going through each week as a group and I will post the lesson weekly (depending on which day you started). The videos will contain the information required to give students a good understanding of each topic and each one will include homework for the students to undertake during the week, as part of a project. After watching each video and completing the homework assignments, students will be provided with feedback and the specific next steps on how to improve or adapt. Time frame for the Week: Mondays - The teacher will post the information needed for the week. Students can submit questions. Tuesdays - Wednesday - The teacher can answer any questions pertaining to the topic of the week. The students will need to complete any homework assignments and answer any questions in the discussion. Thursday - Students need to have all tasks completed and uploaded in the classroom for teacher feedback and discussion. Students will discuss it among themselves. Friday - The teacher will provide feedback to the class and individual students. Saturday - Sunday - The teacher will be available to answer any questions that the students may have for the week or the next week. Please note: This course requires no prior experience. *For parents/families who feel their child would benefit from this course, but their budget does not allow for it, I do offer a number of discounts for families of lower income. Please message me with the course, dates and times you are interested in to learn more about the discounts I might be able to offer. ) Each week, students will have access to the course material and can submit questions to be answered by our expert teacher. On Thursdays, they'll have the opportunity to discuss the week's tasks with the class before receiving feedback on Friday. The course requires no prior experience, and we offer discounts for families of lower income. By the end of the class, your student will have a solid foundation in navigation skills that they can use for the rest of their life.
