Class Experience

In this 4-week flex course, students will learn about animals through teacher presentations, research, group collaboration, art projects, and writing a multi-paragraph essay in different styles about the animals. Intense, but fun and engaging, students will receive extensive feedback and make corrections to their writing as they move step-by-step through the essay process and create an art project of their choosing to display the facts they learn about the animals in the course. 

Each week...

Students will learn about 5 uncommon animals
Students will gain confidence with their writing and see marked improvement
Students will become familiar with the writing process and the parts of an essay
Students will learn to find and incorporate facts into art and writing
Students will become familiar with global homes of animals

Art supplies, google docs (links provided by teacher)

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Informal assessments through art projects, fact incorporation, essay writing, and corrections based on teacher feedback

No live meetings, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.

This is an intense course with a lot of turned-in work each week. There is flexibility with prior communication with the teacher.  If your student prefers a more flexible pace, time has been incorporated into each session to accommodate that but I will need to know ahead of time.  I only require that tasks be done in order as they build on each other. Otherwise, students can expect several check-ins and feedback requiring corrections every week.

All material will be provided by the teacher.  Google Doc links will be posted for each learner.
