Middle school students will strengthen their reading and writing skills by watching lessons that are paired with engaging assignments that are designed to target specific skills with reading informational texts and writing essays.

Description
Class Experience
In this 8-week flex course, students at a middle school level will strengthen their reading and writing skills. Students will receive a video lesson every week as well as a packet via Google Slides to complete. Students will be given guided reading questions and various activities to address each week's specific skill set. Students will receive feedback on all of the work they submit. The teacher will be available for one-on-one appointments as requested. The class will be reading "Bruiser"...
Bachelors of Science in Secondary English Language Arts Education, Minor in Elementary Education Master of Arts in Education and Curriculum Development 3 Years Experience Teaching English Language Arts Online Florida Teacher Certification in English Grades 6-12 with Reading and ESOL Endorsement
Students will have assignments each week to aid in their development of the skills presented. Students will need to read about 50-70 pages per week in weeks 2-6. In the last two weeks, students will draft, revise, and edit narrative essays.
Students will need the book "Bruiser" by Neal Shusterman.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
- Google Drive
Students will be given ample feedback in response to their assignments. Grades can be issued upon request.
No live meetings, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
We will be reading "Bruiser" by Neal Shusterman which includes divorce, some physical abuse, and bullying.
