Description

Class Experience

In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Each learner's progress will be assessed through their art analysis and completion of the mini-projects each week. Students will not receive a letter grade for this course.
No live meetings, and maybe some time outside of class.
Listed below are themes and events that heavily shaped an artist's life and/or are the subject matter of artwork but learners may find distressing or controversial: 

Pablo Picasso - the bombing of Guernica, Spain and Nazi occupation of France
Leonardo da Vinci - depictions of Christian Biblical scenes
Vincent Van Gogh - depression and suicide 
Artemisia Gentileschi - depictions of Christian Biblical scenes, mild violence in paintings 
Material for this class comes from museum and gallery sources including the Van Gogh Museum, The National Gallery, the National Museum of Women in the Arts, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
