FLEX-Meals in a Slow Cooker! Casseroles, Soups, Meats, Breakfast Foods, Etc.
What's included
Homework
1 hour per week. We will complete the crock pot meal assembly in class. Students will be responsible for the finishing preparations outlined in classroom page. This may be creating a simple salad and having ready made dressing, rolls or bread, or rice/potatoes for the meal to be served over.Class Experience
I love my slow cooker! Making a meal, smelling it through the day , and having it ready at dinner time with a few other simple additions is my idea of an easy day! I taught my children very young to be comfortable in the kitchen whether it became their "thing" to cook or not. I believe all children should be given the opportunity to be hands on in the kitchen with the support and backup of mom or dad. We will: Learn a new recipe every other week and create a yummy meal for your family. Take from 30 minutes to 60 minutes to put together our meal. (Depending on prep we have to do recipes will vary) Become more comfortable and confident in the kitchen. We'll talk about what creates a balanced meal. Be responsible for the cleanup after we use the kitchen. We'll finish what we start with some "in classroom" instructions for end preparation of their meal. We will choose to be proud of everything we try! My teaching style is casual, friendly, and engaging. I want this to be an easy, fun, stress free class for families! *Please feel free to ask any questions or send ideas for other meals. I generally get back to my students within 24 hours so please ask any questions you may have and please share pictures of your creations. I love to be a part of your cooking journey! A perfect option if you take vacations, are at the cabin for a month and want to still cook, are a night person rather than a morning person, or live in the many time zones around the world. All communication will be done through the Outschool platform Classroom.
Learning Goals
Students will become more confident and independent in the kitchen. They will learn about seasonings and spices, basic cooking techniques, kitchen safety, and more, collecting recipes they can go back to with confidence and cook again.

Teacher expertise and credentials
My cooking experience began probably around 5 years old. We had 6 kids growing up plus, relatives close in age that were often around for meals. (I never learned to cook in small quantity!) Being the oldest, I always helped in the kitchen and learned to love cooking, canning and baking from a young age. I might say my mom was a great teacher! With our 5 children I felt it important to teacher them from a young age to be confident and knowledgeable in the kitchen, and to enjoy the process.
