Class Experience

Welcome to the Little Ninjas FLEX class! In this class, we will be utilizing martial arts movements to play and explore with our bodies. We'll get our heart rates up, our bodies active, and have a lot of fun doing so! We'll be using games to learn about various kicks and punches, and encourage social-emotional growth (such as the idea that ninjas are kind helpers!). This class builds off of the concepts learned in the Month 1 class.

Each Monday, a new video will be posted to the classroom. Students may watch and follow along at any point in time during the week that best suits their schedule.

Classes will include:
-Warm up with exercises
-Introduce at least one new kick, knee, or punch (these will build upon each other weekly):
--Class 1: Review previous concepts, introduce round house kick, ready ninja pose
--Class 2: Review, add superman punch, introduce ground movement basics, introduce ninja form
--Class 3: Review, add ground movements, build on ninja form
--Class 4: Review, add axe kick, finish ninja form
-We will play games to reinforce these concepts and get our heart rates up.
-Create combos based on learned concepts (i.e. stringing together Jab-cross-hook-front kick)
-Discuss how we can be kind ninjas, helpful ninjas, etc. in our own homes.

FLEX classes are perfect for families with busy or ever-changing schedules. They are also perfect for the reluctant learner, or children who would prefer to not be on camera with others.

Students will be encouraged to engage with each other throughout the week by adding pictures or videos of their weekly "combo challenge" to the classroom, or even just having their grown up type up the details to their combo if they’d rather not take a picture/video (an example would be: “jab-cross-front kick-night ninja pose”).

Students will also be given weekly kindness ninja challenges to complete, with feedback/discussion for these challengers taking place in the classroom (because being a REAL ninja is about more than just cool moves!)

I am available via the classroom, as well as private/direct message, and will check into the classroom on Thursdays, as well.

Parental Guidance
Parental supervision is recommended as this is a physical movement class for younger children. Adequate space to move, free of tripping hazards and anything a child might be injured by, is very important. Lack of supervision may result in injury. Please have your child wear comfortable clothing for movement, and a water bottle nearby.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
With over 17 years teaching preschool and kindergarten aged students, 8 years homeschooling my own four children, and multiple fitness certifications, I have found I most enjoy making learning a fun process, especially when it comes to health and fitness! I have a black belt in MMA (comprised of a Tae Kwon Do/Muay Thai/Boxing/Jiu jitsu blend), and love sharing martial arts with others, especially young children! If your child has ever had interest in martial arts, karate, or ninjas, this class is for them!
