LEVEL 1 PART 1

A Special Note:
FLEX CLASS: Please note this is a FLEX CLASS meaning there are NO LIVE CLASSES. There will be pre-recorded sessions each week as well as the opportunity to send recordings to be critiqued by the teacher with written or recorded feedback!

This is for those who have completed the "Primer Part 3: Piano Adventure Beginner Course" or who comforrtably read on music on the grand staff in both C and G positions.

Along with our songs, each class will give time for students to learn and as well as perform for their class.

We will continue to cover and review the basics while moving into more challenging material in a way that will help students to feel successful and confident in their material.

This includes:

Notes on the piano
Rhythm
Music Vocabulary
Reading basic music
Treble Clef + Bass Clef

This is a FLEX version of the popular "Level 1 Part 1: Continuing Piano Adventure Beginner Course" with Ms. Diana!

Please note:

This is for those continuing from "Primer Part 3: Piano Adventure Beginner Course" of our Fun + Interactive Introduction to Piano OR for those who have some beginning piano experience that covered:

Finger Numbers
Basic Rhythm (Quarter, Half, Dotted Half + Whole Notes)
White Key Notes (A,B, C, D, E, F, G)
Reading in the Grand Staff (Treble + Bass Clef)

My Goal:

My goal is to help students have fun and see music as a game. My experience over the past fourteen years, both in the classroom and studio, has shown me that the best way to motivate someone is to make the learning process feel 𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘺.

This has been the key to unlocking potential that my student’s didn’t even know they had! The vast majority of my students move through their books at a faster rate than the “average” time that the publisher suggests it should take – and I believe it is directly connected to the exploratory and creative environment I create in my lessons.

It’s very exciting and motivating for a new student to see how quickly they can learn music!

How My Program Works:

1: Schedule a spot in the "Level 1 Part 1: Introductory Piano Adventure." During these 8-weeks, students learn the 7 basic facts that they need to play music and complete the Primer Lesson Book to the "Faber Piano Adventures" series together.

There are 3 levels to this program which will get students on a great start to their studies alongside one another in an engaging and supportive environment.

2: Order your book! We work out of the "Faber Piano Adventures: Primer Level" book. You can find it at this link:
Students must have their own copy of:

! IMPORTANT.

1. I do ask that parents prepare to sit with our young learners (8 and under) for the first 2-3 lessons to ensure your child has the best possible start to their classes - as well as avoid any issues with technology in using Zoom or their keyboards + pianos.

2. Practice videos will be available in the classroom each week for students' review of the material as well as full class recordings for missed classes.

3. For our final meeting, Class 8, we have a PERFORMANCE as well as an ESCAPE ROOM where the students work as a team to use what they've learned to crack the codes! You are welcome to join in off camera to celebrate our learners.

We will cover the basics:
- Posture
- Hand Position
- Notes on the piano
- Rhythm
- Music Vocabulary
- Reading basic music

CLASS 1:
Unit 1: Legato + Staccato

CLASSES 2-7:
Continue through our studies together in the Level 1 Lesson Book of "Faber Piano Adventures"
(Treble F-A-C-E, Treble C-D-E-F-G on Staff, Review of material covered)

CLASS 8:
Class Performance of their favorite pieces
Presentation of Part 2 Certificates
Game time

DETAILS:
The course is structured around the concept that children learn music through immersion!

Your child will be given the opportunity to hear me play to model how their pieces go.

We will then discuss the songs as they use "visual analysis" in understanding what is happening in the music.
This allows the student to build their listening skills (ear training), sight reading (reading music), and creativity (applying musical knowledge to their piece!)

Following each class, students will have a week to submit their recording to the classroom to receive feedback from myself, as the instructor.

We will also have an interactive experience around your FREE Music Theory Book + Practice Charts! Lessons are to be uploaded to the classroom and each student will be able to encourage and celebrate one another on their practice charts and recordings through our "classroom comments" section.

BONUSES

1. THEORY WORKBOOK
Students will be given a FREE theory workbook designed especially for each level. This will help to solidify concepts and check for understanding each week.

2. PRACTICE VIDEOS
Following each class, there will be a practice video available for the learner to review the songs done in class. This is to support the learner in their journey for extra guidance throughout the week.

PLEASE NOTE:

This course does DOES NOT MEET LIVE!

However, I will require students to send recordings of their playing each week in order to guide them through their studies. I will critique their playing with weekly feedback.

We will also have theory work from your FREE THEORY WORKBOOK that is provided for the course. That will be done through an online system to guide students through their studies.

For our final meeting, Class 8, we have a PERFORMANCE where the students will be given the opportunity to share their favorite piece + submit for our “virtual recital.”

WHO IS THIS CLASS FOR?
This is for the beginner student with no previous piano experience, or any looking for a review!

If you are switching from another teacher or series, please message me and we will set up a private 1-1 "Meet + Place" intro class to properly place you!
