[FLEX] How to Write Believable Female Characters (Fiction)
What's included
Class Experience
As a woman, I've noticed certain irritating ways that female characters are written in film and literature. I am a firm believer that the character makes the story, and when I've been given a cookie-cutter character that acts nothing like an actual human woman, I'm turned off from the book for good. I want to help you avoid these stereotypes while creating female characters in your own writing. Whether it's a female protagonist, a villain, a love interest, or a side character, I want to help you find ways to make your readers interested and invested in your characters by giving your characters depth, history, and purpose. During our class we will do the following: - Review good and bad examples of female characters in modern literature (and film) - Identify stereotypes readers are tired of reading and learn how to incorporate specific traits without putting our characters into molds - Plot out two well-rounded female characters: a protagonist and a side character Whether you're looking to add dimension to a character in your current project or you're wanting to build a character to base your next great work on, let's break those stereotypes and give our readers female characters worth reading.
