In this course, students will learn how to make a new do it yourself (DIY) gift or holiday-themed treat each week. Students can either keep these items for themselves, or wrap them up to gift! This class will be offered as a 5 week, FLEX style session. Supplies are necessary for each week, and will be posted in the "supplies" section as well as in the classroom at the start of the five weeks to ensure plenty of time to acquire each item. Week 1: DIY chapsticks Week 2: Coffee cup coasters Week 3: Homemade marshmallows Week 4: Peppermint Crunch Fudge Week 5: Spice Rubs Each week, a video will be posted for the students to watch and follow along with as they create their gifts and treats. Student's can pause the videos as they go and go at their own pace as they watch to ensure success. Interaction: -Each week's classroom thread will be used for students to ask questions, comment on the process, and share how they "packaged" or "wrapped up" their gifts to give away. Gifting ideas will be posted on the weekly threads, as well, to inspire learners with various ideas. -Students will upload photos of their finished projects to either the classroom thread or our dedicated Google Photos page. -I am available via the classroom, as well as private/direct message, and will check into the classroom on Thursdays, as well. Notes: -A stand mixer is HIGHLY recommended for the marshmallow week. If you don't own one, see if you can borrow one. This recipe can likely be done with a hand mixer, but it will not be the same. The mixer has to run for 10 minutes straight, as well, making a hand mixer quite a bit more work. If you have any questions regarding any of the supplies, what they look like, where to find them, what to substitute with, etc., please let me know ASAP so I can help problem solve and find a proper solution. This class is perfect for students of all levels. Parent supervision while using the stove is encouraged for learners on the younger side or who are less familiar with using the stove.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi there! My name is Jessica, and I am a homeschooling mom to four children. I have worked with preschool and kinder aged children for over 15 years, and have done everything from running a preschool center, teaching classes, and designing curriculums for use by others. I also owned my own music business for a few years, teaching children 6 months-5 years the foundational aspects of music. I will offer your young children active, engaging, and fun classes on a variety of topics!
I have my black belt in mma (mix of Tae Kwon Do, Muay Thai, American Boxing, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu), as well as a blue belt in Jiu Jitsu, and regularly teach classes to everyone from toddlers to adults. I love helping children make a connection between fitness/health and fun by making workouts a fun experience rather than one to dread.
I am a certified group fitness instructor, and carry an additional certification as a Youth Exercise Specialist. I love helping teens and preteens explore how they can be strong, healthy, and active individuals. I hope to give your teenaged children, whether they are active athletes or not, a great workout through a variety of offerings for fitness, strength, agility, etc.
I have a personal love for financial responsibility. Although I run several websites, I especially enjoy running my site dedicated to helping others how to live debt free and financially wise lives. I love teaching children about entrepreneurship and money matters through fun thematic units such as “building their own cupcake shop”, to help them understand money in a practical, meaningful, way.
I hope that my experience in these areas, as well as my background and love for teaching children will lead to inspiring classes that your children leave feeling accomplished, encouraged, and eager to come back for more!
