Class Experience
Each week, students will be guided to draw a new holiday drawing. Each Monday, I will upload a recording to the classroom. In the recording, I will give step-by-step instructions on how to create the weekly drawings. During each recording, I have two screens visible so that students can see me drawing, as well as speaking. This will allow learners to follow along with my instructions. I will break each step down, so artists of all levels are welcome! Students will have the ability to pause each recording, as they need. On Wednesdays, I will post a short optional activity, which will give students more opportunities to interact, if they'd like to. Students can replicate my drawing or add their own unique elements. I will also discuss ideas for the background. After completing their drawing, students can color in their drawing with the medium of their choice, such as crayons, markers, or colored pencils. Week 1 We will draw Christmas Squishmallows, including Santa, an elf, and a gingerbread girl! On Wednesday, I will ask anyone who would like to share pictures, videos or a comment mentioning their Squishmallows. Week 2 We will draw New Year's Eve Squishmallows! While in all of the other weeks our drawings will be based on real Squishmallows, this week we'll draw real squishmallows and add our own New Year's twists. We'll draw a koala and an axolotl with firework designs and a puppy with a 2023 hat. On Wednesday, I'll post some New Year's trivia questions. Week 3 We will draw Winter Squishmallows, including a fawn, penguin and polar bear, who are all dressed for winter! On Wednesday, I'll post a winter scavenger hunt activity. Week 4 We will draw Valentine's Day Squishmallows, including a cat and dog with hearts and heart glasses and a chocolate covered strawberry. Your learner has the option into turning the drawings into Valentine's cards. On Wednesday, I will post a Squishmallow poem activity. How does a “Flexible Schedule” course work? There are no live sessions. A new recording is uploaded to the classroom each week, which is great if your learner prefers independent pacing. Discussions with the teacher take place via the classroom message board or private message. I reply to all messages and posts, so if you don't see a response from me within 24 hours, please don't hesitate to reach out!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree from Bucknell University
𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗼! My name is Colleen, or Mrs. Smith, and I am excited to work with your student in my online classroom! I have been teaching on Outschool since September 2021 and am thrilled to continue this journey.
My Outschool offerings encompass two distinctive fields:
1) 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀, 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗼𝗳𝘁 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀: I was a commercial banker for three years and enjoyed a ten-year corporate buying career. During that time, I had the opportunity to train many people on using Microsoft Excel and other relevant programs. I was also able to volunteer in a high school classroom, teaching financial literacy to students. For the past 3+ year, I have been teaching these skills and concepts to students on Outschool. It is such a pleasure to see students master these important life skills.
2) 𝗔𝗿𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗼𝗸é𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝗘𝗻𝘁𝗵𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀: As a child, my favorite subject was art, and I continued taking art classes in college and as an adult. My own children, aged 9, 6, and 4 years, share my love of art, and for the past four years, I have enjoyed staying at home with my them. Their specific interests are Pokémon and animals, and in turn I have a true appreciation for these subjects!
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝘆 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘁𝘆𝗹𝗲?
My classes are very interactive, with many opportunities for participation. However, I understand that some learners prefer to listen. I am always willing to adjust my classes to fit everyone's needs. My classes will always have real-life examples that are relatable to students. I want students to be happy with their work and interested in what they're learning, so questions and sharing are welcome and encouraged!
