Class Experience

Auntie Sandra Kainoa has over 40+ years of hula experience. She started hula dancing at 4 years old. The art of Hula Dancing is a passion, talent, and lifestyle that has provided numerous opportunities for personal growth as well. She has traveled as a professional hula dancer in promoting Hawaii, competed both in and out of Hawaii, and participated in many enrichment learning workshops and classes.
Auntie Sandra Kainoa is a hula mom, as all of her children have learned the art and culture of Hula dancing. She loves all Polynesian dancing and cultural art forms.
I highly encourage students to post videos or photos of their progress each week throughout the class. I value the learning and experience your child will get from our FLEX class and will provide feedback in response to each video or photo with what dancers can celebrate and also what can be improved.
Students are asked to wear clothing comfortable to move in. For example athletic shorts, leggings, stretchy pants, and a comfortable top. You may wear a sarong/pareo or hula pāʻū (skirt) if he/she already owns one. Please pull your hair back away from your face. Pinned back or in a pony tail. Also optional is a flower worn in the hair. Hula Dancing is done barefoot. Your child should have safe flooring and ample space to move, step, and sway. Please also have a water bottle filled for short 'water breaks'
No live meetings, and maybe some time outside of class.

Injuries can occur if your child doesn't have safe floor space to move step and sway.
