This hands-on 1st grade math class is designed to provide young learners with an engaging and interactive learning experience in foundational math skills. This course focuses on addition, subtraction, counting, and problem-solving within the range of 1 to 20. Through hands-on activities, games, and real-world examples, students will develop a strong conceptual understanding of these essential math concepts. See the syllabus for a breakdown of the lessons included in this course. Interaction in this Class: - Students will receive links to virtual games that they can play. - Students will receive worksheets that correspond with each lesson. Self-paced Learners: - The teacher will check and provide feedback on these worksheets. - Learners will be prompted to share pictures to the classroom of any problems that they have solved using manipulatives. This is a self-paced class; therefore, there will be no live meetings. Lessons will be provided via video recording.

Students will explore the world of addition and counting within the range of 1 to 10. They will learn various strategies to add numbers and develop fluency in basic addition facts. Lesson 2:
Addition and Counting within 20
Building upon the previous week, students will expand their addition skills to numbers within the range of 1 to 20. Lesson 3:
Subtraction and Counting within 10
Students will delve into the world of subtraction within the range of 1 to 10. They will explore different methods to subtract numbers, focusing on understanding the concept of taking away or finding the difference. Through hands-on activities, students will grasp the fundamentals of subtraction and develop critical thinking skills. Lesson 4:
Subtraction and Counting within 20
Students will further their understanding of subtraction within the range of 1 to 20. Interactive games and real-life scenarios will be utilized to reinforce the concept of subtraction, encouraging students to apply their knowledge in practical situations. Other Details

Adult supervision and/or assistance with the use of safety scissors is needed especially when students do not have previous experience using scissors.
