1-2 hours per week. The interactive journal will be completed in class while all the students discuss what they know about each topic. It is important that students be in class every time to ensure that they complete their journal. If for some reason the student misses class I will send him/her a video on how to complete what they missed.Assessment
Students will submit a photo of their complete journal at the end of the courseClass Experience
US Grade 8
NOTE: Recordings will be anywhere from 45 minutes to 1 hr 30 minutes, depending on the content for that week. In the last week, the videos might be less lengthy since we've covered a lot by then. Students will also need to print out their pages at home to follow with me in the video. There are about 25-30 pages to print out each week If students don’t have access to a printer there will be a digital PDF version for students to download and they may use Kami or any other program that allows them to write their answers on. I will guide the students through a recorded video on the entire journal to ensure that students know how to solve the problems. Students will have the opportunity to pause and play the video as we are going through the lesson. Once done with the guided journal they will have an opportunity to work on Quizizz where they will reinforce what they learned. In this course, I will teach students how to create their own interactive math journal that they can use for future references. We will cover all taught objectives of eight grade and ensure that students understand each lesson as the weeks go by. I love this journal because it is extremely interactive and students will enjoy doing all the activities that they're supposed to do in the journal. Students will also interact through "Quizizz" and we will play interactive games to help the student improve his/her knowledge lesson skills. It is very important that students learn all 8th-grade math concepts in a fun and interactive way and that is exactly what learners will be doing in this class. It is very important that students learn all eighth-grade math concepts in a fun and interactive way and that is exactly what learners will be doing in this class. ***This is a flex course which means that we do not meet live, but there will still be interaction as students will interact with all their classmates through the discussions, videos that we will get to watch from each other when building a certain section and responding to each other in discussions. Topics in the interactive journal are as followed: Week 1: Irrational Numbers, Rational Approximations, Equivalent Numerical Expressions, Square Roots and Cubed Roots, Scientific Notation, Proportional Relationships, Week 2: Triangles and Slopes, Linear Equations, Understanding Functions, Comparing Functions, Defining Linear Functions, Constructing Functions, Week 3: Properties of Rotations, Reflections and Translations, Congruency, Coordinates, Similarities of Two-Dimensional Figures Week 4: Establishing Facts About Triangles, Pythagorean Theorem, Applying the Pythagorean Theorem, Volume of Spheres, Volume of Cylinder, Volume it comes, Scatter Plots, Modeling Relationships, Equation of a Linear Model Pre-requisites: Students must have some knowledge of the 8th grade Math TEKS. It is best if they are in 7th, 8th, or 9th grade to ensure that they are familiar with the material. Everyone always assumes that math is complicated but it doesn't have to be. I hope to see you in class soon! Resources used were made by: Yvonne and Brian Crawford at https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/Yvonne-Crawford
