From lively discussions to fun activities to story vignettes, Fraydo The Dragon Club Pen Pal Workshop is an engaging way to not only help children work on their penmanship but to also help children develop their problem solving, critical thinking, and communication skills, all within a safe environment. Your learner will learn to construct a formal letter and will be given a "Certificate Of Awesomeness" by the Queen for class participation in the 4th week.
Homework Offered
OPTIONAL HOMEWORK: During the class, the children learn along with one of the four main characters to write a Pen Pal letter. The workflow includes 4 steps: STEP ONE: At the end of each class, your learner will receive a Pen Pal letter from the character of the week. STEP TWO: The learner’s adult can print that character's Pen Pal letter out and read it to the learner so that your learner can write back. STEP THREE: Each week, the children will work on their return Pen Pal letters to the weekly character. STEP FOUR: =>Each week, you can upload your learner’s return Pen Pal letter (Optional). =>Each week, each student will be sent a set of questions to ponder as inspiration for their letter writing. PLEASE NOTE: Depending upon your learner’s age, some children would rather draw a picture (vs. write) as their main communication point for their Pen Pal letter. And that’s great! After all, a picture tells a thousand words!0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
At the end of Week Four, your learner will be awarded a "Certificate Of Awesomeness" by the Queen for his/her participation in the Pen Pal Workshop. Miss Courtney will post that Certificate of Awesomeness. This will be a PDF document and the name on the certificate will be blank for parents to fill in. Please note: Depending upon your learner’s age, some children would rather draw a picture (vs. write) as their main communication point for their Pen Pal letter. And that’s great! After all, a picture tells a thousand words!Grades Offered
1) Please print out the provided Pen Pal Letter Templates before class. If your learner does not have a printer, using any blank paper from home will work. 2) Please bring a pen, crayons, or markers to class to create your letter. 3) Don’t forget to print the Discussion Guide so that after the class you can have a meaningful conversation with your learner about the characters in the picture book. 4) This course uses Canvas. Course link will be sent during enrollment. PLEASE NOTE: You can find the class’ companion hardcover picture book (Fraydo The Dragon: A Very Big Problem) and Kindle Edition on Amazon. Please note, the picture book is not required for this class
