Beginner Level
In this FLEX class, we will dig into the best writing practice to help develop our young writers. Each week we will work on proper sentence structure, planning to a prompt, drafting our plan, making editing and revising changes to complete the prompt. These practices will use content and instruction that students would receive within a brick and mortar classroom for their literacy block. Our instructional focus will support learners who are working on a first grade level or students needing standards based support for a first grade student. We will work on the skills, content, and standards students will need to master during their first grade academic year. For our writing instruction, we will teach the grammar rules, sentence structures, and writing process for young learners. We will work towards becoming fluent writers and strive towards writing our own response where students can brainstorm, plan, draft, revise with assistance, and edit to publish their own pieces. The use of goggle slide, weekly print outs, and guided instruction will help learners grow and develop each class. Revision and editing support will be available if learners post their work in learner messages or on the classroom page. Learners will be asked to show or their writing on camera or pictures, this is not mandatory. Always optional.
