Class Experience
Join me for a relaxing directed watercolor class! You don't need to have any experience with watercolor, but if you do, that's great too! *Please note, there are NO live meetings for this class. Instruction is provided once a week via pre-recorded video. Each week learners will complete a simple fall themed watercolor painting by following along with a pre-recorded video. Each video will identify the basic shapes and colors in that week's painting, show how to sketch the drawing, then how to paint and add details. Each painting should take around 45 minutes to complete. Once learners have completed their paintings (and let them dry) they will upload a photo to our "virtual gallery" (the classroom area) with a caption explaining what they are most proud of and what they found challenging. They should also comment something positive on their classmates' artwork. In this class, there are no mistakes! Learners are reminded that they have creative license and however their painting turns out is ok. Teacher to student interaction will take place in the classroom area and via feedback on posted paintings and other responses as needed. Student to student interaction will take place in the classroom via our "virtual gallery" (learners' posted paintings). Please note that there are no live sessions for this class. Teacher expertise and credentials
California Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
Hi! I'm Mrs. Huey and I teach elementary and middle school aged kids how to draw and animate on iPads using the Procreate app. These classes are a fun, safe place to foster creativity, showcase artistic expression, and let learners be their most authentic selves.
In my classes, we gather together to explore the far reaches of our imaginations. Whether drawing an under-the-sea waterscape, animating a prehistoric sauropod, or taking creative license with a hand drawn selfie, everyone's ideas and personalities are welcomed.
I've been working as an elementary school teacher in private, public, and charter schools in Northern California since 2009. Prior to that, I earned a B.A. in communication with a minor in environmental science and spent some time working in the public relations industry.
When I'm not teaching, I split my free time among many different interests! I like to run, hike, travel, take nature photos, play guitar, read, write, and practice yoga.
