(FLEX) ESL Lessons - Beginner - Level 1 Phonics Unit 2

****This is an engaging 5 week FLEX class.  There are NO LIVE LESSONS.  Learners can work at their own pace.  They will complete one pre-recorded video lesson each week.****

This is UNIT 2 of the Level 1 ESL curriculum.  It is best to take each part in order.

Pre-Recorded Videos:
Every Monday by 12pm ET, a pre-recorded video will be uploaded to the classroom.  I will complete one lesson in the Crystal Clear ESL Curriculum in each video.  Each lesson is approximately 25 slides.  Each video will be about 15-20 minutes long.  Learners can practice the sounds, words, and sentences in the video as they watch.  They can pause or replay the video whenever needed.

Homework:
-Learners will be given practice pages for each lesson.  Learners can send a picture of their homework to me for feedback.
-Every week, I will ask learners to submit a video.  They can say the words or sentences from the lesson.  I will give them praise and offer corrections.
(Feedback will be provided within 48 hours).

Possible Classroom Activity Posts:
-Find something that starts with the /f/ sound.  Upload a picture!
-What's your name?  Please post a video of you saying, "Hello, my name is ______."

Week 1:
Lesson 1: Ee, egg, sound
Phonics: short /e/, blending /-af/

Week 2:
Lesson 2: Ff, fish, they
Sentences: What are they?
Phonics: /f/, CVC blending

Week 3:
Lesson 3: Gg, goat, angry
Phonics: /g/, blending /-ag/

Week 4:
Lesson 4: Hh, hen, tired
Phonics: /h/, blending /-ab/

Week 5:
Lesson 5: Review of material in Lessons 1-4

Teaching Style:
I am a very patient and encouraging teacher.
I adjust my teaching techniques to fit each learner.  
Props or other visuals will be used.
TPR (Total Physical Response) is used throughout the lesson.
I speak clearly, slowly, and do not use unnecessary words.
I guide students to speak in complete sentences.
Errors are corrected in a positive way.
