This class is the Flex version of my Koopalings Camp! In this class, we will draw one Koopaling per week for 7 weeks: Week 1: Larry Week 2: Morton Week 3: Wendy Week 4: Iggy Week 5: Roy Week 6: Lemmy Week 7: Ludwig I will teach young artists how to identify shapes and lines in Super Mario Bros characters, and create a drawing by following along, as I guide the process step-by-step in my video instruction. With the Flex option, students may pause the video when needed, and take the time...
This class is taught in English.
Each week, follow the video to create your own drawing. Add your own details, as desired. Post an image to the classroom of the week’s drawing, and also a video of yourself walking us through your picture. Tell us about the details you added, the colors you used, and the way you have made the art assignment unique to you. Tell us what medium you used (crayons, colored pencils, paint, markers). In addition to the image and video about your art, you will be asked to answer the weekly “getting to know you” prompt. A new prompt will be added weekly in the classroom, where each student can provide their answers in a comment. The weekly question may ask something related to your interest in Mario Bros or art. For example, one week the question may be, “Which Mario Bros character is your favorite, and why?” Finally, learners are encouraged to look at others’ final images and videos. Learners should consider adding comments to other learners’ work. Finding the things you appreciate about someone else’s art can help you as an artist, as well as build community!
Students should have blank paper, a pencil with good eraser, a black marker, and coloring utensils of all colors needed for the character.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
I will view every student’s completed work each week (their submitted photo and video) and provide comments and feedback for each drawing. While there will be no formal grades for this class, I will be communicating to each student about their work each week, to help them stay connected, and to help them learn.
No live meetings, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
